Enhanced Quality Improvement and Stats Features in OriginPro 2025b SR1

Over the past several versions, we have been adding more capabilities to OriginPro for statistical graphing and analysis,  particularly in the area of Quality Improvement.

In this blog, we will cover key additions and improvements in our latest version, OriginPro  2025b SR1 which was released in August, 2025.

Let’s start with a list so you can get a quick summary:

  1. New Statistical and Quality Charts.
  2. A Stats GUI mode which simplifies the interface to focus mainly on statistical features.
  3. Option to pre-install key Apps (add-ons) for statistics, as part of the main installation.
  4. Significant enhancements to Apps for Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), General Linear Regression (GLR), Best Subset Regression (New App), and Tolerance Intervals.
  5. Other UI enhancement: Search Bar, Easy export of report graphs, Report sheet customization.

Before we dive into details on the above items, I have a request:
Our approach to product development is to first focus on what users want us to work on. So please take a moment to provide feedback on this blog! Are these enhancements helpful? What else would you like to see in the next version? Thank you!

Now for the details:

1. New Statistical and Quality Charts

In this version, we have we added five new charts: Symmetry Plot, the Run Chart, the CDF Plot, the Interaction Plot, the Main Effects Plot. Read this blog to learn more.

We have also re-configured the Plot menu in the Status GUI mode (which is described in the next section), with a whole new set of categories:Plot Menu with new category organization

2. Stats GUI Mode

During installation, you now have the option to turn on a Statistics Mode. If this option is chosen, the following things happen:

  • The interface displays fewer menu items and toolbars, with focus on statistical capabilities.
  • The Plot Menu shows all available plots in categories relevant for Statistics.

You can toggle between the Stats Mode and Default Mode for the GUI, using the menu entry: Preferences | GUI Mode…

3. Pre-installation of key Statistics Apps

The installer also provides an option (see image above) to pre-install a set of statistics Apps. This can be particularly useful in organizations where end users do not have administrative rights to download and install Apps. The IT team can check this box during manual or MSI installation, and the Apps will be automatically copied to the end user’s installation folder. Upon launching OriginPro for the first time, the Apps will then automatically install and be ready to use.

Here is the full list of pre-installed Apps:

  • Design of Experiments
  • Statistical Process Control
  • General Linear Regression
  • Best Subset Selection
  • Time Series Analysis
  • Correlation Plot
  • Paired Comparison Plot
  • Gage Study
  • Tolerance Intervals
  • Logistic Regression
  • Linear Mixed Effects Model
  • MANOVA
  • Factor Analysis
  • Decision Tree Analysis
  • Heat Map with Dendrogram
  • Attribute Agreement Analysis

4. Enhancements to specific Statistics Apps

4.1 Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Capability Analysis now includes report-style sheets, with visual benchmarks to make it easier to crosscheck against expected values. Node-level summaries provide targeted insights to support informed decision-making.

Results can also be exported to MS Word or PPT using the one-click mini toolbar.

4.2 Design of Experiments (DOE)

Now includes support for Mixture Designs and Taguchi Designs.

With added features to easily select higher-order model terms, enable stepwise regression, and generate coded / uncoded coefficients and VIF.

4.3 General Linear Regression (GLR)

An updated interface allows users to easily include higher-order interaction terms and enable stepwise regression. Evaluate model performance using k-fold cross-validation.

Optimize the response using the one-click mini toolbar. Use the expanded Report window to view 95% Confidence Intervals and 95% Prediction Intervals for fitted Y values, visualize significant model terms using the Effects plot, and identify outlier data points.

4.4 Best Subset Regression

Use this tool to automatically select the best model for your analysis. Options are available to force the inclusion of key predictor variables, and to control model complexity by specifying the minimum and maximum number of predictors.

Red text identifies the best model for each model evaluation criteria. Once the best model is identified, use the one-click mini toolbar to run Multiple Linear Regression.

4.5 Tolerance Intervals

Now updated to include sample size calculations.

5. Enhancements to the UI

5.1 Search Bar

The menu toolbar includes a search button to easily find apps, FAQ, help pages, samples, and templates.

5.2 Export report-style output to MS Word or PPT

Use the one-click mini toolbar to export results to MS Word or PPT

5.3 Control Graph Size and Layout

Use the one-click mini toolbar to change graph size and the number of graphs per row.
