Polar Heatmap in Origin 2025

The new Polar Heatmap graph template in Origin 2025 is a visual representation of data on a circular plot, where values are encoded using color intensity. Unlike traditional heatmaps, which use a Cartesian grid, polar heatmaps display data in radial coordinates. The angular dimension (theta) typically represents a cyclic variable, and the radial dimension (r) may represent a quantitative variable. Color variations in the heatmap correspond to the magnitude of the data at specific angular and radial positions, allowing for the analysis of patterns and trends that are better understood in a circular context.

The supported data types for this template include XYZ data, virtual matrices, and matrices. The Polar Heatmap template can be found under the Plot:Contour,Heatmap menu.

The following sample graphs can be accessed by going to the menu Help:Learning Center and searching for Polar Heatmap.
